Planned Parenthood Funding Blocked In House Vote

sunrise D.CFebruary 18, 2011 ( - Following the passage today in the U.S. House of the historic amendment to strip Planned Parenthood of all federal funding, the country’s top pro-life organizations celebrated the vote.

U.S. pro-life organizations have been pouring their resources into gathering popular support for the amendment, which passed overwhelmingly in a 240 to 185 vote (Click here to find out more about the amendment and the vote). The amendment now goes to the Senate, where its fate is uncertain. The President of Live Action, Lila Rose, whose work exposing Planned Parenthood’s willingness to aid sex traffickers of underage girls was repeatedly cited during the debate in the House over the amendment, said: “We applaud those in Congress who championed the safety of women, young girls and children today, and refused to funnel hundreds of millions of tax dollars into an organization that furthers the trafficking of minors and enables sexual abusers.

“We now turn our attention to the Senate,” she continued. “Now they must examine the facts and move to pull the plug on subsidizing Planned Parenthood’s exploitation of the most vulnerable among us. The case to cease funding is crystal clear.

"But for any Senator who remains unsure, imagine explaining to your constituents that you voted to keep sending $350 million of their tax dollars to an ‘non-profit’ that puts young girls in harm’s way and made $63 million in profits by performing over 300,000 abortions last year. It’s time once and for all to stop financing these activities.”

Note: This courageous act of just minutes ago is already mobilizing the bloodletter's into howls of "outrage," replete with threats to target any and all lawmakers who in so voting sought to protect the innocent unborn, cut into Planned Parenthood's profits, general decadence, and undermine the eugenics program targeting minorities. Planned Parenthood, seeking to deflect from its antiseptic professional brutality, is also disingenuously playing to sentiment by saying it will hurt their "cancer screening" for women and the like. In so doing they hope to mobilize college women against the measure.

--->Dennis Prager - Why Judaism (and then Christianity) Rejected Homosexuality. "When Judaism demanded that all sexual activity be channeled into marriage, it changed the world. The Torah's prohibition of non-marital sex quite simply made the creation of Western civilization possible. Societies that did not place boundaries around sexuality were stymied in their development. The subsequent dominance of the Western world can largely be attributed to the sexual revolution initiated by Judaism and later carried forward by Christianity....Read it all

Note: For the umpteenth time, and without acrimony, most of us do not care what people do in private---each must answer to God for him or herself, though we consider it an abuse of God-given freedom, of which the human body tells---as long as they are not spreading disease or trying to politicize these behaviors, ideologically seeking through propaganda to persuade our children under various pretexts in the classroom, media, etc. Keep it in the bedroom, strictly private, and leave the majority alone is all we ask. It is dissipation and incontinence to be constantly confusing the bedroom and the public sphere.

Wall Street wasn't through with us when the banksters sold their fraudulent derivatives into our pension funds, wrecked Americans' job prospects and retirement plans, secured a $700 billion bailout at taxpayers’ expense while foreclosing on the homes of millions of Americans, and loaded up the Federal Reserve’s balance sheet with several trillion dollars of junk financial paper in exchange for newly created money to shore up the banks' balance sheets....

--->Pope John Paul II, Evangelium vitae, 1995, On the Right to Noncooperation With Unjust Laws: "The passing of unjust laws often raises difficult problems of conscience for morally upright people with regard to the issue of cooperation, since they have a right to demand not to be forced to take part in morally evil actions...In order to shed light on this difficult question, it is necessary to recall the general principles concerning cooperation in evil actions.

"Christians, like all people of good will, are called upon under grave obligation of conscience not to cooperate formally in practices which, even if permitted by civil legislation, are contrary to God's law. Indeed, from the moral standpoint, it is never licit to cooperate formally in evil. Such cooperation occurs when an action, either by its very nature or by the form it takes in a concrete situation, can be defined as a direct participation in an act against innocent human life or a sharing in the immoral intention of the person committing it."

Benedict XVI v. 'Old Method' of War, Violence: "...we must not give in to pessimism! Rather, let us actively reject the temptation to tackle new situations with old methods. Violence must be rejected! The moral force of law, fair and transparent negotiations to settle controversies, starting with those linked to the relationship between the territorial integrity and self-determination of peoples, fidelity to one's given word, a search for the common good: these are some of the principal paths to take with tenacity and creativity in order to build fruitful and sincere relations and to guarantee present and future generations times of harmony and moral and civil progress! Let us transform these thoughts and hopes into a prayer that all members of the international community and, in particular, those who are invested with greater responsibility, may undertake to work generously to restore the superior motivations of peace and justice"--Angelus, Papal Summer Residence, Castel Gandolfo Sunday, 24 August 2008

--->Summorum Pontificum: While some of the information has been contradictory, some credible voices have suggested that a forthcoming Instruction / clarification on the 7/7/07 motu proprio Summorum Pontificum, the Apostolic Letter on the celebration of the Roman Rite according to the Missal of 1962, may contain new restrictive elements reflecting "strange, violent, and dark forces" pressuring Benedict XVI. (How intolerant the barkers about "tolerance" can be). Other credible voices deny there is anything to fret about. In any case, a petition has been established to appeal to the Holy Father in this matter. You can learn more and sign it here...(click). As Shawn Tribe at the New Liturgical Movement website writes, "If, in the end, there is nothing to any of this, then we shall all be very thankful indeed and rejoice. But if there is substance to this, then at least our concern will have been respectfully voiced to our beloved Holy Father and also to our pastors."

What Catholic Social Justice is Not

On page 67 of the Communist Manifesto, Marx emphasized "the theory of the Communists may be summed up in the single sentence: Abolition of private property."

John Paul II on the contrary in Laborem Exercens, while deeply urging justice, a living wage and safe conditions for workers, stipulates with all Church teaching before him (click) that "many deeply desired reforms cannot be achieved by an a priori elimination of private ownership of the means of production." (no. 14). He insists that this teaching "diverges radically from the program of collectivism as proclaimed by Marxism..." (ibid, emphasis mine).

Homeschoolers: Someone has said intelligence seeks to evaluate when necessary while intellect evaluates the evaluation.

  1. Someone has said intelligence seeks to evaluate when necessary while intellect evaluates the evaluation.

Yes-- I've always thought Laurel and Hardy, if not also Cratchit and Scrooge, reflect that obligate symbiosis very well.

  2. I think that piece on changes at the National Catholic Reporter was meant to be humorous rather than factual, though I didn't see a lot of humor in it.
